Agricultural Burning

Permits are issued to growers who are producing an agricultural commodity such as rice, corn, grapes, hay, etc. and want to burn the waste generated from this farming activity.  Annual permit fees apply.  Managing the orderly burning of agricultural crop residues allows for the use of this important tool while minimizing the impact on urban areas.  Contact our Agricultural Burn Officer of the day at (916)875-6641 to obtain a permit.  Permittees must verify it is a legal burn day prior to burning by calling the Agricultural Burn Line at (916)875-6641 after 9:30 a.m. daily.
